PRIMARY MARK

Evolved in 2025 from the workshop’s original circular emblem, the identity begins with a line arranged into three connected levels. It can be read as a stair, a section, a sequence of rooms or simply a memorable structure—open enough to invite interpretation, disciplined enough to hold the practice together.

Let’s give it form.

Three reflections move across a piano-black mark, revealing the full Edison Fang Workshop identity beside its name and the line Let’s give it form. Accompanied by a low, slowly shifting tonal hum; no dialogue.

Before the stairs, the workshop lived inside a circle.

Introduced in 2016, the circular emblem carried the practice through its earliest projects. The 2025 redesign does not erase it; it keeps the history visible, then opens the enclosure into structure, rhythm and movement.

04 · Identity system

One line. Three levels. No fixed reading.

Three open levels suggest a stair, a section or a sequence of rooms. Symbol, stacked and horizontal arrangements share the same structure and the measured rhythm of Source Code Variable Light.

04 / 07 · IDENTITY SYSTEM

05 · How it behaves

A serious system with a questionable personnel policy.

Motion extends the logic already inside the mark. Every action follows its levels and baseline; humour appears only when that order is briefly interrupted.
  1. 01

    Maintain structural alignment.

All components report to the same baseline.

  2. 02

    Use the stairs whenever possible.

The mark has no approved elevator budget.

  3. 03

    Do not leave punctuation unattended.

    Previous incidents remain under investigation.

Line entry test

The mark enters under its own supervision.

One continuous route draws the structure from the ground up, occupies every level and completes the journey without requesting an elevator.

06 · Practice in use

A proposal. A drawing. A working identity.

The same line introduces a proposal, identifies a drawing set and carries the correspondence around a project. A clear hierarchy gives each document its place in the work.
